Good news for Samsung Galaxy S9 users in India. Android 10-based One UI 2.0 is officially going live. By now, of course you know that Android 10 has been out for a couple of months and Samsung is finally pushing it out on the legacy flagship.

The update which has been undergoing beta tests for a while now seems to be ready for the prime time. This rollout also follows Samsung Galaxy S9 models in the U.S. & Europe. Users of these devices have been getting the Android 10 update in the past few days.

As this is an entire system upgrade, the new update weighs in at around 1.8 GB and carries with it the January 2020 security patch level. The One UI layer has also been upgraded to version 2 on top of Android 10.

This update bears the DTAA/DTA5/DTA3 software version. This is the same software build number as the European Exynos model of the Galaxy S9.

Users who were on the Android 10 beta program for this device have not been left behind in this official rollout. Many beta testers have also reported receiving the same DTAA/DTA5/DTA3 build. However, their update package is much, much smaller, weighing in at a rather ‘incremental’ 135 MB.

We seem to be in the middle of the Android 10 rollout to Samsung Galaxy S9 devices globally. At least in for the Exynos variants. US carrier models might have to wait a little longer for the same update.

Recently, we got confirmation that the Verizon and AT&T models of the Galaxy S9 would get the update to stable builds of Android 10 sometime in February. However, nothing has been said about the T-Mobile variant of the same.

These US Carrier devices run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset. While that might not be the reason for the delay compared to the Exynos model, carrier input could be.

Using the captured incremental OTA zip or downloadable full firmware from Samsung server, the owners of Galaxy S9 can update to Android 10 without waiting. Details here.
