New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 15, 2020) follows:

At a time when no single Samsung smartphone has a 90Hz display screen refresh rate, Chinese company ZTE is already working on a display refresh rate of up to 144Hz.

So far, the highest we’ve seen in any smartphone is 120Hz and this has been limited to gaming phones. OnePlus is said to be working on a next-gen handset with a 120Hz screen and so is Samsung, most probably the Galaxy S20 (S11).

ZTE 144Hz display

No one knows when ZTE’s 144Hz panel will be ready, but it has been claimed it will be used on the next Nubia Red Magic 5G flagship.

What we can tell you, though, is that another of the company’s existing flagships, the ZTE Axon 10 Pro, is receiving a major software overhaul via an over-the-air (OTA) update.

The new OTA update is rolling out in Europe and brings what most have been waiting for since the Axon 10 Android 10 update news broke late last month in China – the company’s latest custom skin, MiFavor 10.

The incoming Axon 10 Pro Android 10 update bears software version V2.3, up from V1.8, with folks in Italy already receiving the 1.3GB-heavy update. Besides the many Android 10/MiFavor 10 features the update brings, you also get the latest January 2020 security patch.

FYI, the Axon 10 Android 10 update that rolled out in China came with software version V2.2 and November 2019 security patch, so it’s cool to see what a 2-week wait can do.

Update (January 29, 2020)

After Europe, Axon 10 Pro owners in the U.S. can now download and install the latest Android 10 update. If the OTA takes ages to arrive, you can download the file (1.6GB) from the link below and install it manually.

  • Device: ZTE Axon 10 Pro
  • Codename: A2020U
  • Channel: North America Stable
  • Version: V2.0.0B06
  • Android: 10
