[Released] Verizon Galaxy S9 One UI 2.0 (Android 10) update to arrive in February, nothing official yet for T-Mobile

A good number of eligible devices have already been updated to Android 10. Many of the OEMs promised the rollout before the end of 2019. The few devices that weren’t updated were slated to get the same within Q1 of 2020. One such device is the Galaxy S9; the US carrier variant to be precise.

Galaxy S9 was Samsung’s flagship device back in 2018. It has been rather well updated since and at the moment stands at Android 9 Pie with the latest January patch in most parts of the world.

Android 10 build has been in the works for the phone for some time now with a number of betas. In fact, Samsung has started the rollout of the stable build to some units in the U.S. & Europe.

It seems like the update is finally ready for primetime. In a notice via the Samsung Members app, the Korean OEM confirms that the carrier versions of the Samsung Galaxy S9 (particularly the Verizon and AT&T models) will be getting the Android 10 build in February.

This comes as no surprise as the recent OTA has brought the software build running on the Snapdragon Galaxy S9 to DTA5. The January 2020 security patch is also bundled with the package.

Also unclear is how widespread this rollout will be. This is especially bearing in mind that Verizon was talking about some kind of beta builds before the stable rollout.

Our guess, this will be a phased rollout. As such, these dates aren’t that far apart.

Update (February 5)

Contrary to what we reported earlier, AT&T users had not started receiving this update. At the time, only the US Cellular, Xfinity Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, and Comcast variants had received the update.

AT&T just started rolling out Android 10-based One UI 2 to the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9. You can read more about that here.
