[Updated] Nokia 6.2 Android 10 update should be imminent as new surprising OTA hitting units (Download link inside)

HMD Global, the company behind the Nokia brand today, unveiled the Nokia 6.2 back in September 2019. This was at a time when Google was shipping freshly baked Android 10 update for the Pixel lineup.

In what many consider a missed opportunity, the device was running on the then recently obsolete Android 9 Pie. Fast forward several months later and the device still sits on that build with a promise of an Android 10 build soon.

Today, Nokia 6.2 users are reporting about receiving a rather hefty update V1.170 that weighs in at over 1 GB. Sadly, the OTA is still based on Android 9 Pie. To recall, this device already received the January security patch update.

The update is also based on the January security patch level. The changelog mentions changes centered around the improvement in the user interface and improved system stability. We see such changelogs with many monthly security patch updates.

It is also worth noting that the Nokia 7.2, the closest cousin of Nokia 6.2, also received a similar large update not too long ago. As is the case with the Nokia 6.2, the Nokia 7.2 also still stands at Android 9 Pie with the January 2020 security patch level.

It remains unclear what these updates imply. However, many see this big, unexpected update as a precursor to the official rollout of a stable build of Android 10 to these devices.
