Original story (from Jan 22) follows:

In the past couple of years, the smartphone industry has witnessed a rise in gaming smartphones. Everyone from Nubia to Xiaomi and ASUS have thrown their hats in the ring.

Not to be left behind, Vivo also has a contender. The company introduced the iQOO sub-brand in its home country, China, with the launch of the Vivo iQOO back in April 2019.

Since then, the iQOO brand has changed tact. iQOO phones launched last year all featured flagship internals while still being offered at an affordable price range.

These were sensible phones that are very capable but look nothing like the ‘Gaming-phones’ from Xiaomi and ASUS. According to legendary leaker on Weibo, Digital Chat Station, this could be a permanent shift by the brand.

When the first iQOO phone was unveiled in 2019, there was a top variant called Monster Inside Edition. The device had a sportier demeanor, complete with halo lights. According to the tipster, the company has canceled the Monster Inside lighting and design.

In a new move by the brand, Vivo is taking the iQOO brand to India. The name of the phone has not been revealed yet. However, we know that the device will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 865.

Some other rumors and leaks about the device suggest that it will sport a 48-megapixel quad-camera setup on its back. It should also be powered by a 4,410mAh battery with Vivo’s recently certified 55W fast charging.

None of this has been confirmed yet so take all this with a pinch of salt. We shall keep an eye out on this sub-brand and update accordingly.

Update 1 (Jan 22)

It appears that iQOO will be coming to India as four different models – namely IQOO, IQOO NEO, IQOO Pro, and IQOO Lite – have been trademarked.

IQOO series coming up in India. The following models have got trademarked – IQOO, IQOO NEO, IQOO Pro, and IQOO Lite.
