New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on January 14, 2020) follows:
Android One devices are not expected to be as prolific as Google Pixels when it comes to timely software updates. But one would expect respective vendors to be on Google’s heels with software update rollouts.
Sadly, this hasn’t been the case since the program picked up momentum a couple of years ago. The company that sparked the new wave of Android One devices, Xiaomi, isn’t even among the best when it comes to timely updates.
To date, for instance, only the Mi A2 has received the stable update to Android 10. Sure, the Mi A1 isn’t on the roster having picked up two OS upgrades in Oreo and Pie, but the Mi A3 ought to have received the 10 update ahead of the A2.
In mid-December, reports emerged suggesting that the Mi A2 and Mi A3 would both be upgraded to Android 10 in January 2020. However, only the former has received the new OS as of this writing.
Naturally, Mi A3 owners are up in arms demanding answers as to why their newer and more powerful device hasn’t received Android 10 yet its older sibling has. This is what you would expect, not just for Xiaomi devices.
In response, Xiaomi India has revealed that the Mi A3 Android 10 update will be released in mid-February 2020. There is no way to guarantee this will actualize, so the best way is to sit back and wait.
This, unfortunately, means another long wait, something buyers of the Mi A3 were always trying to avoid thanks to the Android One branding. But then again, support guys can never be trusted with such info, so this should give you a reason to take this with a grain of salt.
