New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 6, 2019) follows:

The View series of Honor phones represents budget conscious flagships. Honor View 10, for example, sports the same HiSilicon SoC as Huawei P20/P20 Pro, but the Chinese OEM was able to keep the price tag low by cutting several corners.

IPS LCD instead of AMOLED display, inferior camera setup – the list is quite long.

Prior to the global launch event, the phone was introduced in China and sold as Honor V10. Thanks to Huawei’s absolutely complex naming scheme, you can find another phone named Honor 10 in the market. Both phones are powered by the in-house Kirin 970 chipset.

Originally launched with Android Oreo, they eventually received Pie in the form of EMUI 9. Later on, EMUI 9.1 introduced plenty of features like EROFS and GPU Turbo 3.0 on these phones.

Cut to the present, Honor 10 and Honor View 10 are eligible to the Android 10 update which should arrive in the form of EMUI 10. The proposed timeline by Huawei indicates that a beta version would be available by the end of November (or the beginning of December) before the final rollout.

Well, the beta recruitment did go live in China a few days ago. They also included Honor 8X in that event; a phone that recently picked up EMUI 10 beta in India. Logically Honor 10 and View 10 should be next in line, and this is somewhat happening now.

As you can see, the Friendly User Test program now supports Honor 10 in India. Interested users should sign up using the FUT app to get the early taste of EMUI 10 on their phones. Number of slots are limited though, as Honor is allowing only 200 volunteers for the first round.

Similarly, the owners of Honor View 10 can enlist their names via the same app. We are not sure why the company decided to limit such a small number of participants, considering both phones sold extremely well in India.
