It is clear that Samsung has turned over a new leaf in recent years. Once cited as a prime example of laggy and buggy software, their in-house skin is now matured enough. One UI delivers one of the best Android experiences nowadays.

The company also got a really bad reputation when it came to software updates. Samsung devices rarely, if ever, got updated. Not bug fixes, not regular security patches, let alone new versions of Android. Those days are far gone.

Matter of fact, Samsung is the only phone maker to deliver January 2020 security patch via stable channel. The Korean giant has beaten the likes of Google at this, which is no mean feat. Cut to now, Galaxy Note 10 is also receiving quite the same love.

The global Exynos variant of Galaxy Note 10 is getting the January patch in the form of build number BSLD. Not too long ago, the phone received stable Android 10 update. This also went out to the Snapdragon variants, but the included patch level was December 2019.

Following the footsteps of the Note lineup, Galaxy S10 is also receiving the January security update. To recall, the Exynos variant of the phone picked up stable build of Android 10-based One UI 2.0 in late November.

The initial software version BSKO was carrying an older security patch, but no need to worry anymore. The new update, BSL4, comes with the January 2020 patch.

These are all OTA updates and as such, will take some time before they are officially available for your device. This is because such updates are often rolled out in phases.

While we still don’t have direct download links to any of these updates, we recommend that you use Frija. The update you get from this tool is official Samsung firmware, so KNOX and your warranty will remain intact.

If you haven’t been updated to Android 10 on either of these devices and if you aren’t exactly the patient type, we recommend that you try and install it for yourself.

The same January 2020 security patch is rolling out to the US carrier unlocked Samsung Galaxy S10 and Note 10 units. For Galaxy S10+, the update weighs in at 196.31 MB and only brings the new security patch level.

The Galaxy S10 family of devices now stand at software version G97*U1UES2CSL1 while the Note 10 family have N97*U1UES2BSLD builds.
