Tesla Voice Commands issue comes to light after the latest update

Tesla might not be everyone’s cup of tea when it comes to moving around, but you got to admire the automotive company’s willingness to iterate its products to bring notably improved cars compared to previous models.

Even better is the amount of effort Tesla dedicates towards improving the overall user experience through regular software updates. One such update arrived a few days ago posing as version 2019.40.50.1.

As expected, Tesla has included a bunch of new features and functionalities in the new update alongside bug fixes and improvements that should leave plenty of car owners quite thrilled.

Some of these features include improvements to the driver visualization feature, enhancements to voice commands, phone improvements, voice keyboard, and something Tesla calls Camp Mode, among others.

While its always nice to receive new features, sometimes the software updates that bring these features also introduce bugs here and there. Such is the case for Tesla owners who have recently installed the update version 2019.40.50.1.

Apparently, the voice commands improvements that came as part of the latest update are of no use to Tesla owners. This is because the car actually never gets to hear the commands, even if you shout at it.

Tens of other affected Tesla owners who have installed the latest update have flocked the above Reddit thread with negative feedback about the new feature.

For those still in the dark, the new Tesla update came with support for the following voice commands to help you focus more on the road and less on your car’s touch screen.

1. Climate: “Set the temperature to 70”, “Turn on the passenger seat heater”
2. Vehicle: “Adjust my right mirror”, “Open the glovebox”
3. Navigation: “Let’s go to work”, “Where are the nearby supercharging stations”
4. Media: “Play the Beatles”, “Search for Joe Rogan podcast”,
5. Communication: “Call Davis Lewis”, “Send a text message to Evan”
6. Other: “Show me the rear camera”, “Open Autopilot settings”

But as it stands, none of these commands can be heard by the car, which means they are currently useless for those affected. It should take Tesla another software update to address the issue, but we don’t know how soon the update will be released.
