Xiaomi had a phenomenal run at the smartphone market so far – especially in India – where it became one of the top-selling brands. The OEM also revealed futuristic concept phones, like Mi MIX Alpha, in this year.
Though the Chinese company is not a name to reckon when it comes to delivering timely security updates, we have some good news for the owners of Redmi 6 Pro. FYI, Mi A2 Lite is the Android One counterpart of this handset.
This new update is bringing the latest December patchset for Redmi 6 Pro. Along with an improved security level, it brings several fixes related to lock screen, notification, clock and screenshot taker.
To recall, Xiaomi brought in the Redmi 6 Pro back in 2018. The device offers some decent mid-range specs like the Snapdragon 625 chipset, 3/4 GB of RAM, up to 64 GB of onboard storage, a huge 4,000 mAh battery, FHD+ screen, AI dual camera and more.
About a month ago, Redmi 6 Pro picked up stable MIUI 11 update with September patch. The underlying Android layer was based on Pie though, and Xiaomi might not provide Android 10 for the phone.
And cut to now, this new update bumps the security patch level to December 2019. It arrives with the version number V11.0.5.0.PDMMIXM and weighs in around 366 MB for the OTA.
Notably, there is no reference of the December patch in the below-mentioned changelog associated with the OTA:
Lockscreen, status bar, Notification shade
– Fix: Couldn’t open notification settings in the Notification shade in Second space
– Fix: Couldn’t open the Notification shade in some casesClock
– Optimization: More obvious naming for local timeOther
– Fix: Images overlapped in scrolling screenshots
Keep in mind that the update is being pushed for the Indian users via OTA in batches and will probably take some time in hitting all the units.
