Offering a monthly security patch before Google is not a big deal, as OEMs get their hands on the actual codebase long before. OnePlus did it with back in August (late July to be specific) with OnePlus 7 Pro. Samsung took up the mantle by unexpectedly releasing the December patch.
Aside from the legacy flagships like Galaxy Note 8 or Note 9, Samsung also pushed the update to the newcomers such as Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Fold within the first week. However, only regular (LTE) Galaxy Fold picked up the OTA, not the beefier 5G variant.
No need to worry though, as Samsung is bringing a bunch of new features alongside the December security patch for the European Galaxy Fold 5G. The long-awaited DeX for PC functionality has arrived as well. FYI, the 4G variant was blessed with the same in late November.
Includes the DEX update, December Security patch and also the Chrome Enhancment option in display settings. The Chrome enhancement is interesting because it trys to counteract the Jelly Scrolling – test it out on the Fold’s front screen and you can see the difference in rendering.

The software version number for this model (SM-F907B) has been changed from ASK2 to ASK9. On the other hand, the US unlocked Galaxy Fold 4G (SM-F900U1) units are receiving November security patch in the form of build ASK1.
It is worth nothing that Galaxy Fold is not a part of the ongoing Android 10 based One UI 2.0 beta initiative, but the stable update might arrive anytime as we saw earlier in the case of Galaxy M20/M30.
Talking about the beta, US unlocked Galaxy Note 9 is now a member of the clan. Cherry on top, it is also getting the Pie-based December patch (CSK1) via stable channel after the Exynos variant.
We also have a tablet candidate in our story. As the carrier models of Galaxy Tab S6 are receiving November patch, the European variant – both Wi-Fi only (SM-T860) and LTE (SM-T865) – is blessed with the December security update. The new build is tagged as ASL3.
Pro tip: You can always use Frija to download the updated firmware directly from Samsung server without waiting for OTA.
