Although an operating system update is a pleasant event, it may turn out to be a menace sometimes. Both Apple and Google have angered their users with iOS and Android overhauls respectively in the past. Let’s consider what happened this year with the Cupertino titan.

Apple Watch voice memo sync issue, Fitbit notifications glitch, Siri speakerphone problem, Personal Hotspot connection bug, and few others brought customers into bewilderment after updating to iOS 13, which went live on 19 September.

In case any of these troubles worried you, chances are high that you might have wished for a method to go back to the previous iteration (or an even older version). Unlike on a regular phone, OTA downgrading is quite possible on a jailbroken iDevice.

Yeah, there are a few tools available on the web at your disposal for downgrading the iOS version. What if you want to make the process handy so that everything completes faster than it used to? Well, let’s introduce you to Vieux.

Needs Python3 (At least 3.5)
Also needs Python2 but that comes default with macOS
Run ‘pip3 install -r requirements.txt’ to install all dependencies
Instructions
*’pip3 install -r requirements.txt’ to install all dependencies
*’cd’ into the ‘Vieux’ folder that you either git cloned or downloaded
run ‘./vieux -i “PATH/TO/.ipsw”‘ or, if the that command doesn’t work, ‘python3 vieux -i “PATH/TO/.ipsw”‘
*Follow what the tool tells you to do

The number of devices Vieux supports is very few at the moment and the list lacks handsets compatible with iOS 13. So that means, OTA downgrading is really far-fetched if you are using the latest version of the platform. Still, the whole process takes only five minutes.

Yeah, this tool can do both 32 and 64 Bit downgrades with support for even iPhone 4S, which hit the market more than eight years ago. Nonetheless, you can use it only on macOS (developer confirmed Linux availability, but on a later date).
