Nokia 9 PureView is one of the most unique smartphones you can find on the market right now. The phone’s uniqueness stems from its rear camera configuration that consists of five 12MP lenses.

The setup has two RGB and three Black and White lenses that work simultaneously to shoot what Nokia describes as “photos with superb dynamic range that capture detail and texture from both the highlights and shadows, plus incredible depth-of-field and vibrant, truest-to-life color.”

But for some reason, HMD Global went with an older Snapdragon 845 chipset instead of the latest Snapdragon 855 that meant the device was basically DOA despite its reasonable pricing. Still, the lure of the pure Android One is one some couldn’t resist.

The Nokia 9 PureView runs Android 9 Pie out of the box and being an Android One device, it has already received its stable update to Android 10, the latest OS. The OTA started rolling out last week, becoming the second HMD device to receive the OS.

Unfortunately, though, the promised camera Night mode that was supposed to arrive as part of the Nokia 9 PureView Android 10 update was nowhere to be seen when the software rolled out.

With the camera Night mode feature missing, one Nokia 9 PureView owner took to Twitter to ask about the situation. In response, Nokia confirmed that a camera update is coming soon that will include this feature.

Hi there, the updates for the camera will be available soon. Please stay tuned on our social channels because it will be worth the wait.

According to Nokia, the upcoming Nokia 9 PureView camera update will be worth waiting for, which probably implies there will be more to the update than the promised Night mode feature. This is just a hunch, though.

Nokia hasn’t mentioned how soon the said camera update will arrive, but as always, we will keep an eye on the developments and let you know when the OTA begins rolling out.
