Xiaomi (Redmi to be precise) is trying to follow OnePlus as both companies love to reduce the lifespan of their mainstream offerings. While the latter started to produce half-yearly refresh aka the ‘T’ edition phones since 2016 (OnePlus 3T), the other OEM stepped into the game two years later.
Now operating as an independent identity, Redmi launched the eighth iteration of their Note series a few months ago. Interestingly, both Redmi Note 8 and its Pro variant came with MIUI 10 from factory. The company also opted for MediaTek Helio G90T SoC for the higher end variant.
Xiaomi delivered stable MIUI 11 update for Redmi Note 8 Pro rather quickly. The phone recently picked up November patch as well, along with some necessary bug fixes. Android 10 is also available via closed beta channel, but the regular Redmi Note 8 is not that lucky.
First of all, Xiaomi pushed the stable version of MIUI 11 for Redmi Note 8 in China, but that build was pulled back due to errors. A new OTA has been rolling out gradually across the regions, but someone touched the wrong button once again.
Yes, the initial update (V11.0.1.0.PCOINXN) for Indian Redmi Note 8 units has been cancelled. No need to worry though, as the OEM is delivering a new build (V11.0.2.0.PCOINXN) with an identical changelog. People running the first build are also getting a small incremental OTA.

On the other hand, owners of Redmi Note 8 Pro are reporting about a botched up proximity sensor since long. Guess the software needs further refinement, as we earlier reported about another weird bug with this phone.
I Noticed a Bug on Redmi Note 8 Pro that after call when we lift the device, the device won’t light up and should use Power Button to light up the screen. The Proximity Sensor Turns out the light when holding near but after the call, the screen simply won’t light up. Please Help Me!

According to some users, calibrating the proximity sensor helps them to get rid of this glitch. However, this is not an assured solution.
