New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 7, 2019) follows:

Android 10 has been out for a couple of months at this point. Apart from Google, some phone makers were able to officially deliver the update on the launch day. Most of them, however, especially those that run heavily skinned versions of Android, are yet to do that.

Huawei is an exception to this pattern. Their devices run on EMUI, or Emotion UI. This is their take on Android so it is tweaked and packed with features to make it more Huawei than Google. Several current-gen Huawei/Honor phones are running stable Android 10 nowadays.

The Chinese phone maker has been doing the beta test on most of its flagships and other mid-rangers. And now, the OEM is extending the same to the Honor 9X and the Honor 9X Pro devices.

The recruitment, which is limited to China at this moment, runs from December 6 to December 15. Throughout the recruitment exercise, Honor is hoping to bag 500 users of log version, 1500 users without log version.

Subsequent updates from this program, including notification to the successful applicants will be done via SMS. As such, applicants are advised to be on the lookout for notifications from Huawei.

The announcement is perfectly inline with the previous roadmap shared by Huawei. However, there is no word about global beta for Honor 9X family from the company.

Compatibility

The following device variants of these two devices will be participating in this beta: HLK-AL00 (Honor 9X) and HLK-AL10 (Honor 9X Pro). The phones also need to be running the latest firmware to be eligible.
