Samsung has been pretty consistent in rolling out timely updates to its various lines of smartphones. This is a rather sharp contrast from the Samsung of yesteryears. Its devices rarely, if ever, got updates or bug fixes to address many issues that dogged the Touchwiz, its old skin on top of Android.

The Korean giant already published a roadmap for delivering Android 10. This masterplan details when many of its devices are expected to get the One UI 2.0 update. Already we have seen a number of such beta builds for the Galaxy Note 10.

Before the Android 10 OTA is officially unveiled, the current devices need to be kept up-to-date in terms of Android security patches. As such, Samsung is rolling out the December Android Security patch update to the Galaxy Note 10.

The update that weighs in at a rather small 138 MB brings the software version running on these devices to ASKB. Its changelog is the generic one we see with virtually every monthly Android security patch update – “Improving the security of the system”.

The OTA is currently rolling out to the Exynos (i.e. non-American) variant of the Note 10 lineup. This update has been reported by users across various regions so safe to say, this is a global roll out to Galaxy Note 10 users.

Samsung is fond of these surprisingly early monthly security updates nowadays. However, this one is not carrying any major new feature and/or improvement. This could be because they are preparing the foundation of the upcoming Android 10 build? We don’t know for sure.

Also receiving the December Android security patch is the Galaxy Note 9. While not as flashy and futuristic as the Note 10, Note 9 is still one beast of a phone.

The new update that carries software version CSK2has been spotted by Note 9 users across various regions. Once again, it is applicable for the owners of the global variant of the phone.

If you want to skip the waiting queue, you can download the updated firmware using the unofficial Samsung firmware downloading tool, Frija.

Both these devices are slated to receive the update to Android 10. The Galaxy Note 10 is first in line, followed by the Galaxy Galaxy Note 9 (alongside Galaxy S9).
