New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on November 26, 2019) follows:
Stable version of Android 10 was made official back in September. At the time, it was available on a select number of devices including Google’s own Pixel phones and a few others from other OEMs like Essential and OnePlus.
Since then, more and more phone-makers have been on a race to make Android 10 available on their devices. But most of these OEMs like Samsung, Xiaomi and the rest, use custom skins.
This means they have to obtain the official Android 10 source code, build their own skin like One UI 2 or MIUI on top of it, test it then roll it out. At the moment, many of these OEMs are actively testing their skins in various beta testing schemes. And looks like Realme is already a member of this club.
The Chinese OEM is gearing up to launch its ColorOS 7 skin that is based on Android 10. In a recent development, they have started recruiting beta testers for the Realme X2 Pro in China.
Notably, a few days ago, we reported that the representatives of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer announced on Weibo as well as Twitter that the ColorOS 7 (Android 10) early adopters edition is going live soon (December 18 in China).
According to the latest announcement, interested users can sign up here for taking part in this early adoption program. The registration window will be open till December 16.
The long-anticipated Android 10/ColorOS 7 based skin for Realme phones should be called ‘Realme UI’. The Indian beta recruitment, however, will start during late November.
Realme, like many other phone makers, has made public its roadmap to Android 10. This gives users an idea of when they should expect the new skin and the new version of Android to be available on their devices.
Taking a look at the updated timeline, Realme 3 Pro and Realme XT will get it in January 2020, Realme X and Realme 5 Pro will get it in February, Realme X2 Pro in March, Realme 3 and 3i in April, Realme 5 and 5s in May and Realme 2 Pro in June 2020.
In this latest announcement, Realme reiterates its commitment to sticking to these timelines.
Users who have not experienced the early adopters of ColorOS 7 should not worry, we will launch the official version of ColorOS 7 at the corresponding time in accordance with the previous promise. At that time, ColorOS 6 users only need to click on the phone’s “Settings-Software Update” to upgrade to the official version of ColorOS 7 in one step.
