OnePlus is ending its three-year-long software support for the OnePlus 3 and 3T with one final software update to OxygenOS 9.0.6.
The duo was unveiled in 2016 powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but today, they have Android 9 Pie running the show. Like the original Google Pixel and Pixel XL from the same year, the 3 and 3T have received three OS upgrades during their course, which is more than we could ask for.
Today, the duo is picking up their final official software update that bumps the security patch to October 2019. Sure, not the latest version available, but still a welcome update for those still rocking either device.
This will be the last update for these two devices and we can’t thank you enough for your invaluable feedback throughout these three years. With your support, we improved Oxygen OS across three major Android versions and dozens of updates.
In addition to installing a new security patch, OxygenOS 9.0.6 also brings updated GMS apps and does the usual bug-fixing and performance improvement. Below is the changelog provided by OnePlus.
Updated Android security patch to 2019.10
General bug fixes and improvements
Updated GMS apps
As usual with OTA updates, the incoming update will take time to reach all OnePlus 3 and 3T units, probably a few days or even weeks, so stay patient as you wait. If you can’t wait, we have the download links to the new updates for manual installation.

In the announcement post, OnePlus further notes that despite this being the final official software update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T, it’s not the end of the road for the magnificent two. From next week, you’ll begin hearing stories of custom ROMs from the company.
This is not the end for the OnePlus 3 and 3T, though. Starting next week, we will start highlighting some of great work done by the developer community, for those of you considering to have a go at Custom ROMs.
Considering that OnePlus One is still receiving custom ROM support to date, you can only imagine how far developers will be willing to go with OnePlus 3 and 3T given the company’s continued support. For one, you can be sure there will be plenty of Android 10 custom ROMs for these two.
The last time these two received a software update was back in August, so be sure to grab this one once it shows up on your end. For more OnePlus-related stories, you can route to this section.
