Samsung closes down One UI 2.0 beta recruitment for Galaxy S10 & Note 10 in preparation of stable Android 10 rollout

Android 10 has been out for a couple of months now. Many Android phone makers have been working on their own skinned version of Android 10 since then. Everyone from Huawei to ASUS is busy testing out their builds. These have been possible through public beta programs.

Samsung, for instance, invited Samsung Galaxy S10 as well as Note 10 users to test out the new skin in the One UI 2.0 beta recruitment. The program has been rather active, getting multiple updates in the process. We got a step closer to the final build of Android 10 for Galaxy S10 with the fifth One UI 2.0 beta.

This was quickly followed by the first beta of One UI 2.0 for the Galaxy Note 9 and with that, we knew the final stable build was almost dropping.

However, Samsung has officially pulled the plug on the beta recruitment for Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10. The report comes from the ‘Beta Operations Manager’ of Samsung Korea forum, so it is pretty much authenticate.

Apparently you can ask for a special access if you need to taste your apps with the latest version of One UI.

Although Samsung doesn’t provide any kind of official roadmap regarding the rollout of Android 10, One UI 2.0 is expected to drop for the Note 10 and S10 first. This should be followed by the previous gen smartphones i.e. Galaxy Note 9 and the S9 family.

Samsung hasn’t quite laid out the timelines and the expected dates for these updates but with the beta being concluded, it is a matter of weeks. This is bearing in mind the kind of update frequency that Samsung is going with, from monthly security patches to bug fixes.

Now that the beta for Galaxy Note 9 is live, Samsung is probably done with the development on current-gen phones. This could mean that the Korean OEM is switching focus, and active development from the nearly complete builds to the devices next in line.

One UI 2.0 comes with a number of new features and enhancements like new smoother system animations, a compact Quick Settings panel, enhanced screen recording, new Android 10 navigation gestures etc. Guess these goodies will be available to other Samsung phones pretty soon.
