OnePlus is among the fastest-growing smartphone brand globally. The Chinese company gained the title of “Flagship Killer” with the OnePlus One itself, which came about five years back. Since then, the company has never looked back.
With every iteration of the OnePlus phone, the company tried to outdo not just the last model but also the competition from major names in the smartphone world, such as Apple, Samsung, and Huawei.
Last year only, the Chinese company surpassed names like Samsung and Apple to lead the premium smartphone segment in India, which is the second-biggest smartphone market in the world.
OnePlus’ product-first strategy and ‘Never Settle’ philosophy has helped the brand to make a place among the top smartphone makers, in such a little time. The Chinese company is never shy of reaching users to take their feedback about what they want from the phone.
This pushes them to put features that users actually want. And now, the Chinese company plans to apply a similar strategy to their Smart TVs, a segment that it entered only recently. In September, the company released two models in India – OnePlus TV Q1 and Q1 Pro.
Both models have been well received in the market. Now, to move forward and further improve the product, OnePlus is inviting applications for the closed beta testers.
A few days back, the company published a post on its forum asking users to join the closed beta group. The closed beta program encourages users to give “initial feedback” on new and “experimental” features. This program appears to be exclusive for Indian users only.

Those who want to be a part of this Closed Beta program will have to apply for the certified Closed Beta Tester – an “elite crew.” OnePlus says only 60 people will become a part of this “Closed BetaProgram for India.”
Since the seats are limited, there are a few eligibility requirements as well – use a OnePlus TV; you must be an active member of the OnePlus Community; and should communicate and provide constant feedback to the OnePlus team via Slack.
If you meet all these requirements, then you can apply for the Closed Beta program from here. Before you apply for the program, you must know that you will “occasionally require flashing builds that require a clean flash” and this might result in data loss.
Users seem to be very excited to be a part of the Closed Beta program for the OnePlus TV. Most users, however, have one concern and that is in meeting one of three eligibility requirements – use a OnePlus TV.
One of the forum member said:
I’ll gladly be a beta tester for the OnePlus TV. You guys have to send me a OnePlus TV because I’m can’t afford it right now. That’s aside, I’m an always active community member and I can also be a beta tester
The same point has been highlighted by a few other users as well. Also, users from countries, where the OnePlus TV is not yet available, have expressed willingness to be part of the Closed Beta program.
These are serious concerns raised by users as OnePlus TV starts at INR 69,900 (approx. $986), and it has only been launched in India. Hopefully, OnePlus would find a way to address such concerns.
