LG has had the G8 ThinQ testing Android 10 beta since the days it was called Android Q. The Korean company was among select device makers that linked up with Google to test the OS right after the I/O 2019 back in May.
LG, like several others that also entered their devices into the early Android Q beta program, is still struggling with rolling out the stable version. To date, no LG device has seen the stable Android 10, but this is expected to change before the year ends.
Not to forget the LG G7 One that is touted to get the update to Android 10 this year, LG is expected to deliver this new OS to the LG G8 ThinQ this quarter.
In a recent roadmap detailing its Q4 software update plans, LG did confirm that the V50 ThinQ Android 10 update is also planned to arrive soon. This was to echo an earlier confirmation that the device would join the LG Android 10 Preview program this month.
Keeping its promise, the LG V50 ThinQ Android 10 update is now available to download in Korea. The OS was promised for this region’s models sold through LG U+, SK, and SKT, the three major carriers in Korea, and now the software is available to download.
The software version of the Android 10-based firmware is 19a and apparently, you’ll need LGUP version 1.16 in order to install the update.
Using the LGUP tool, you can flash stock firmware to your LG V50 ThinQ in kdz/tot/bin format. This same tool should also come in handy in case you find the V50 ThinQ Android 10 beta update isn’t as good as you expected and you’d like to downgrade to the stable Pie.
Even better is that the LGUP tool can help with unbricking a soft-bricked LG smartphone by flashing stock kdz ROM, so yeah, this is one hell of a tool. The link to grab the tool alongside the respective ROM for your V50 ThinQ variant is right below.
