Motorola has come a long way since its inception. From probably being one of the most sought after brands in the mid-range segment to being, one of the left behind brands, Motorola has seen it all.

Talking about efforts, the company has decided to bring back the iconic Moto Razr phones and is expected to arrive late in December. If all goes well, this could prove to be the turning point for the brand towards good things.

Original Moto Razr

Though the company is making all the efforts in its might to revive the brand reputation it had, but the attempts seem a bit less in today’s competitive smartphone market.

From providing timely security and firmware updates to adding new innovative smartphones in its portfolio, all OEMs are giving their all in to capture their fair share in the global smartphone market.

However, the Lenovo-backed OEM is gradually losing its position in the rollout of timely updates that used to keep the Motorola brand alive in the market. And talking about updates, Motorola has pushed the October 2019 security update for the U.S. unlocked Moto G7 Power.

Not only this, 2017’s Moto G5s Plus is also getting the August (!) security patch along with some improvements in cellular modem. Let us take a look at the updates one by one.

Motorola Moto G7 Power

The October update for the Moto G7 Power was announced at the beginning of this month and in line with it, the update is finally here. To recall, the Moto G7 Power was launched in February 2019 and packed in some decent mid-range specs.

Talking about the update, it carries the version number PPOS29.114-134-4. It is purely incremental in nature and just bumps the security patch level to 1 October 2019.

Below is the official changelog and the screenshot of the update:

Highlights of the update

  • Android security updates up to 1 October 2019

Notably, the regular Moto G7 has already been served with the October 2019 security update a few days back. The update is being pushed via OTA and will hit all the devices soon.

Motorola Moto G5s Plus

Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 powered Moto G5s Plus is receiving a new update after a long time. Sadly, it is the old August security update and is based on Android Oreo. However, the update brings in a new baseband that could improve call quality.

The latest update carries the version number OPS28.65-36-14. Below is the official changelog and the screenshot shared by one of the users:

Highlights of the update include:

  • Android security updates up to 1 August 2019
  • Modem improvements.

If you have not received the notification for either of the devices, then you can head to Settings>>System>>System updates and manually check for it.

Feel free to let us know in the comments below, what all improvements the update brings for either of the device. At this point, it is safe to assume that the owners of Moto G5S Plus have no chance of getting Android Pie update via official channel.
