LG G7 One Android 10 update could arrive by December 2019, says LG support

It’s well over a year since LG joined Google’s Android One program that promises smartphones running near-stock Android and are guaranteed to receive at least two major Android OS upgrades with regular monthly security patches on time.

In May 2018, LG released the LG G7 ThinQ flagship and less than five months later, the company unveiled a stripped-back G7 ThinQ and called it LG G7 One. The One in the name stands for Android One, which means no LG UX on top of Android.

The LG G7 One came with Android Oreo preinstalled and got updated to Android Pie in November the same year, becoming the first LG device to get the then-new OS. This was Android One at work, if you like, especially since the then-flagship G7 had to wait until early 2019 to get Pie.

Being an Android One device, it qualifies for a second major OS upgrade and naturally, fans have been yearning to know when the LG G7 One Android 10 update is expected to arrive.

Many would be willing to trade the recent October security update that arrived as version Q910UM20u for Android 10, but the firmware still has Android Pie as the base OS.

With LG not keen to commit with details of Android 10 roadmap yet, a G7 One owner asked an LG customer representative about the release date of Android 10. And apparently, the rollout could begin by December 2019.

It’s worth noting that at times customer reps are not always equipped with the correct info, but the fact that the LG rep allegedly checked for the release date before responding shouldn’t be ignored. But still, do take this with a pinch of salt.

LG had the G8 ThinQ in the Q beta program and naturally, it should be receiving the new OS ahead of others. But we can’t rule out the LG G7 One Android 10 update arriving in the coming weeks too considering its the only LG Android One device.
