[OTA goes live!] Will my Poco F1 (Pocophone F1) get MIUI 11 update today?

Xiaomi recently revealed its official MIUI 11 update roadmap for its global lineup, stating that the rollout would begin today, October 22. However, the company went against this promise and delivered the MIUI 11 update to several handsets a week earlier.

The budget Redmi 7A was the first to pick up the global MIUI 11 update trailed by the Mi 9T, a device that many in India know as the Redmi K20. Unsurprisingly, these two were in the first batch of devices expected to get the new skin beginning today.

Also on the list were the Mi 9 SE, Redmi Y3, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7S, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi 7, Mi 8 Pro, Mi 8, Mi 8 Lite, Mi MIX 3, Mi MIX 2S, and POCO F1/POCOPHONE F1. As of this writing, though, none of these devices has been upgraded to MIUI 11 stable, not even the Poco F1.

According to reports just coming in, the October 22 date that the global MIUI 11 update was promised is for beta testers and not the public stable version. The test window will last a few weeks before the public rollout begins later on. This also applies to the Poco F1 MIUI 11 update.

According to the Admin of POCO F1 MIUI Global Stable Beta Tester group in Telegram, the MIUI 11 release date given is the release date for testers, and not for public users. Public users will get it 2-3 weeks later once the test is successfully completed.

True to this, Xiaomi recently opened the global beta testing program for some of these devices namely Redmi K20 Pro/Mi 9T Pro, Poco F1, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi 7, Redmi Y3, and Redmi Note 7/S.

The Redmi K20 is also in there, but you don’t have to join the beta program when the stable version is already available. You can grab the ROM and do a manual installation, both for the global 9T and Indian K20 models.

As for the Poco F1 MIUI 11 update, it isn’t gonna arrive today, at least not the public stable version. Unless you successfully joined the beta program, the wait for the stable MIUI 11 update on your Poco F1 could take a couple or so weeks.

Once again, the story should also be true for any other device that appeared in the first batch of Xiaomi/Redmi devices expected to receive the MIUI 11 stable update across the globe beginning today.

Head of Pocophone Global Alvin Tse has come out to confirm the statement from the Telegram group – that the October 22-31 window is for beta testing the MIUI 11 update before the public rollout begins in a couple of weeks or so.

Morning @PocophoneGlobal @IndiaPOCO fans, the team has started limited testing for MIUI 11 yesterday. If all goes smoothly, you should see MIUI 11 in couple weeks or so.

Of course, it will all depend on how the testing process goes, meaning the Poco F1 MIUI 11 update could as well arrive earlier or maybe even way later than the stated “couple of weeks or so,” so be ready for any outcome.

Finally, the Poco F1 MIUI 11 update is now rolling out in stable as version 11.0.5.0.PEJMIXM. Besides the MIUI 11 changes, it also brings October security patch, but the base OS remains Android 9 Pie.
