Rolling out security updates has become one of the key after-sale services that the smartphone manufacturers can provide. Users have also become much aware of the importance of the security patches and the vulnerabilities it fixes.
Several OEMs have recently pushed the latest security updates for their devices. However, the top performer has been Nokia that has been constantly pushing out updates for its devices.
And recently, the company has pushed the latest updates for the Nokia 2 and Nokia 5 (2017) smartphone. Not only this, but Sony has also made the latest security update live for the Xperia 5 smartphone. Let us get into the details of the update, one by one.
Nokia 2
Nokia 2 was announced in 2017 that runs on Android Nougat. Besides, with this update, the security patch level bumps to October 2019. To recall, the Nokia 2 was a budget device with the main USP being its 4,100 mAh battery and 8 MP rear camera.
Recently, we have reported that Nokia 2 based on Nougat and Oreo got the September patch at the beginning of this month. Coming to the update, it carries the software version 0.68Q and weighs in around 79.9 MB in size.

It is just an incremental update and brings nothing new except the latest October 2019 security patch. The update has been rolled out via OTA.

Nokia 5 (2017)
Another Nokia device that has been hit with the October 2019 patch is the 2017’s Nokia 5. Notably, the update has been pushed in Indonesia and is expected to arrive at other regions as well.
It carries the version number v6.19B and brings in UI enhancements along with improved system stability. Below is the official changelog and the screenshot shared by one of the users:

The update weighs in about 323.8 MB in size and is being pushed to the users via OTA in batches and will hit all the devices pretty soon.
Xperia 5
Sony is also not far behind in pushing out the updates. Xperia 5 smartphone was recently launched in September and packs in all the flagship specs like Snapdragon 855, 6 GB of RAM, triple rear camera setup, etc.
Notably, the Xperia 5 received its first update very recently. And with this update, the security patch level bumps to October 2019. It carries the software version 55.0.A.11.25.
