This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (from Oct 15) follows:
Most of us have a favourite mobile game. In a world with tons of titles, the preferred one varies from person to person. People who love aggressiveness may opt for PUBG MOBILE whereas sports fanatics’ choice would be FIFA, PES, or NBA.
If you are a PES fan, you know there is a major maintenance going on. Started yesterday, Konami had announced it would last for three days (until 17 October). In an open notice, they made it clear that the maintenance will bring PES 2020 as an update.
Guess what!! PES 2020 has already gone live. Almost everyone thought it would hit Google Play or App Store on the final day. Those who already have the previous iteration on their device can see the new title as an update with over 1 GB in size.
In case you are downloading the game for the first time, it may go over 2 GB. In comparison with the counterparts Konami’s offering comes bundled with intensive graphics, impressive skills, and true-to-life goal celebrations.
As an avid Pro Evolution Soccer fan, I was literally astounded to see PES 2020 on Play Store. It looked like they cut the three-day maintenance short. After downloading the update, it became evident that the game isn’t playable.
I couldn’t go past the Konami logo. The game continuously crashed. Occasionally, the phone showed crash reports. Investigating further, I came to know I am not alone. There are tons of people who experience the same error.
Are you in the same boat? Well then, you will have to read a statement, which comes from PES Development Team Facebook account. Though the account is not verified, I don’t think they are trying to mislead the users.
[IMPORTANT] PES 2020 Mobile Crash Issue
We have confirmed that some users are currently experiencing an issue that causes the game to crash after installing the update to eFootball PES 2020, which was released today (October 15th).
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the issue. In the meantime, we ask that you refrain from deleting or attempting to reinstall the game. If you delete the game from your device without linking your data, you will be unable to carry your progress from PES 2019 over into PES 2020.

So, don’t try to delete or reinstall the game once you update to PES 2020. If you don’t care about the progress you made on the previous version, you can do that. But we highly recommend waiting for a couple of days.
Update 1 (Oct 16)
PES development team has acknowledged the crash issue (on their official Facebook page) and shared that they’ll be coming up with a new update tomorrow (i.e. Oct 17) along with a fix for the same.
We have confirmed that some users are currently experiencing an issue that causes the game to crash after installing the update to eFootball PES 2020, which was released on October 15th.
Our investigation has concluded, and we will be re-uploading a fixed version of the game to the store on October 17th.
Furthermore they add:
*The users who had logged in to the game between 13/12/2018 to 20/12/2018 and have not logged in since this period will still experience the issue after updating to v4.0.1.
Further update is planned to resolve the issue for those users.Unfortunately, this means that additional time will be required to finish maintenance. As a result, we have had to postpone the beginning of the pre-open period, which will now commence on October 18th 08:00 (UTC) .

eFootball PES 4.0.1 is now available with the fix for crashing. But you will have to wait until 18 October 08:00 (UTC) to play. Read full story here.
Update 3 (Oct 18)
You can now play PES 2020 on Android and iOS. But, they will conduct occasional maintenances without prior notice until 24 October during the pre-open period. Check the full story here.
