OnePlus has been making quite a few headlines lately, first and foremost due to the launch of the OnePlus 7 Series i.e. OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro devices. Then, later on, they recently launched the OnePlus 7T smartphone along with the OnePlus SmartTV as well.

The reason is simple because OnePlus believes in innovation and is ready to provide the users with the features they wish to have on a phone. The 90Hz refresh rate on the OnePlus 7 Pro has become the talk of the town.

Talking about one of the most important services any OEM can provide its customers is the timely rollout of the updates. In this matter, OnePlus has been on top of the game. Reportedly, OnePlus pushed the August Security update for its devices, even faster than the Google Pixel devices.

This is quite a commendable work by OnePlus and is one of the biggest reasons why this brand gives tough competition to other manufacturers like Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei.

OnePlus is also known to be a brand that constantly pushes updates for bug fixes and other performance enhancements and continuing this tradition, it has rolled out a new update for the OnePlus 6T with updated Google Maps.

Note that the update is available for users in the USA on the T-Mobile variant of the OnePlus 6T. The new update carries the version number A6013_34_190814 and weighs in around 260.6MB in size.

Below is the official changelog and the screenshot shared by one of the users:

The software updates include the following:

  • Android August Security Update
  • Updated Google Maps version
  • Improved device performance

Talking about the update, it does not bring any camera improvements. Moreover, the roll-out of the August security update in the month of October is clearly not a fault of OnePlus. Almost every T-Mobile device is known to receive the updates very late and this time, it is the OnePlus 6T.

Note that the update is rolled out via OTA and will take some time to hit all the devices. If you have not received the update on your device, then you can manually check for the update by heading to Settings>>System Updates>>Check for Updates.

India is one of the biggest markets for OnePlus and in Q2 2019 the same was reflected according to some reports. The Counterpoint Research report shows that OnePlus was able to widen the lead over Apple and Samsung. This comes after the successful launch of the OnePlus 7 series devices in India.
