The 13-inch & 15-inch MacBook Pro – refreshed in 2019 with a few hardware upgrades – are already a power house of laptops. Macs can surely deliver when pushed to limits. The 13-inch uses Intel Core i5 processor, while Intel core i7 and i9 are used in the 15-inch variant for processing various tasks.
A 16-inch MacBook Pro has been rumored for a while now. A recent leak according to Chongdiantou (Via), suggests that the rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro may retail with a 96W USB-C power adapter. Just for reminder, the 15-inch MacBook Pro is equipped with a 87W USB-C power adapter.
96W USB-C power adapter has A2166 as its model number and is of the same size as the 87W USB-C power adapter, claimed by the unknown source on Wechat. ChargerLAB has tweeted the screenshots of the leaks from Chongdiantou.
Although this a leak, we still can’t just dish out the possibilities of it being reality. Chongdiantou had provided leaks earlier, like in case the 18W USB-C adapters and invariably they turned out to be true when it was launched after 4 months with the iPad Pro models.
Apple is also teasing its Pro Display XDR coming this fall which will be capable of up to 96W pass-through charging. It won’t be a surprise if Pro Display XDR is equipped with the 16-inch Macbook Pro as all the existing portable devices that Apple manufactures doesn’t require that much power.
At this moment, we can speculate all we want but we can’t be sure about anything. We suggest you to await announcement from official sources and meanwhile anything more convincing comes out, we will keep you posted.
