Samsung Galaxy A50 is one of the best budget smartphones out there. Besides its flashy design, the device also packs in some punch on the processing front as well as photography.
The Galaxy A50 is arguably the only device in its category with a fingerprint scanner hidden under a Super AMOLED panel boasting a 1080p resolution. The phone also rocks a tri-lens camera on the back alongside a huge 4000mAh battery to keep it alive and up to 128GB internal storage.
But not even all these goodies could earn it a place on Samsung’s list of devices eligible to receive monthly security updates. Like many other devices in the budget/midrange Galaxy A series, the Galaxy A50 only receives software updates on a quarterly basis.
This explains why some Galaxy A50 users, specifically models SM-A505F and SM-A505FN, never received September 2019 security patches. The device had been updated to August security patches in multiple markets across the globe, including the carrier variant sold through Verizon Wireless.
It’s worth noting that for some reason owners of model SM-A505G did receive both August and September patches, but the latter update never arrived on models SM-A505F and SM-A505FN.
As if making up for skipping September patches, the Korean company has already started dishing out the October 2019 security patches to model SM-A505FN well ahead of Google. There’s no word on if and when the same update will arrive on model SM-A505F, though.
The update is arriving as version A505FNXXS2ASJ1 and so far, the firmware is ready for those in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Switzerland, Ukraine, Caucasus countries and Southeast Europe.
Of course, more regions should be joining the party soon, but OTA updates, as usual, take days before hitting all units in all regions across the globe. Granted, the wait for your Galaxy A50 October security update could go all the way to mid next month.
The full changelog is still elusive, but we do expect the usual bug fixes and performance improvements to be included in the incoming Galaxy A50 October update. Do let us know if you bump into anything new in your comments below.
