Samsung holds the major share of global smartphone market. Their top-end devices and of course, the brand reputation accelerated the growth towards the top position. Still, how do their budget phones fare?
Bummer! That was going to be the answer you would get if you asked this question a year ago. However, the ‘M’ series significantly improved the OEM’s budget lineup. The usual concerns disappeared and the phones grabbed a spot in the priority list of many potential buyers.
Let’s address the elephant in the room now, shall we? Samsung flagships! Well, the company is at where they are today because of ‘S’ and ‘Note’ lineups. Even though the Note 7 fiasco did create a dent in the firm’s reputation, every other flagship captivated gadget enthusiasts.
Fast forward to this year, Note 10 went official last month. And, they already rolled out September patch. It’s the same for S10 as well. So, what about the older flagships? Did they slowly walk into the oblivion without security updates?
No, at least, S8 and Note 8 didn’t! Verizon just released September patch for Samsung Galaxy S8/ S8+ and Note 8. People started receiving the notification a couple of days ago. Not just carrier branded, but the S8 units that came straight from the manufacturer also got the same patch.
In terms of changes, there are pretty much nothing to talk about. Apart from bumping up the patch, both the packages don’t bring anything new to the plate. As for Note 8, the non-carrier branded units already received September update before two weeks.
In case you don’t see the notification, you can try routing to Settings>> System updates>> Check for system updates. If you see a new update, you should tap Download now. No luck?? The best thing to do is waiting for your turn.
Over the air overhauls go live in clusters. And, you can’t do anything to fasten the update delivery (especially for a carrier-branded device).
