September 26, 2019 marked the day when OnePlus launched its latest flagship OnePlus 7T and the OnePlus TV in India. Along with it, OnePlus made another announcement, where the OEM said they’ll release OnePlus Pay to compete with the likes of Google Pay, Samsung Pay and Apple Pay atc.
Yes, like other popular OEMs, it’ll be OnePlus’ own digital wallet platform or online payment application. OnePlus did not share any further details about specifically when they would launch the service apart from mentioning that it would debut in the coming year, i.e. 2020.
Success of OnePlus Pay will depend on the ease of access to its service, considering Google Pay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay are reliable and have already been widely accepted by users worldwide.
The company also mentioned during the launch event that they’ve been working on OnePlus Pay for sometime. However, it is yet to be seen as to how many banks OnePlus gets to integrate with.
We would call it an educated guess, given that OnePlus announced it first in India. Don’t be surprised if India gets the OnePlus Pay first. Though, it is not confirmed from any official sources, its just a hunch. But then, OnePlus didn’t mention which countries are getting the services and when.
Will OnePlus Pay be able to take on the likes of Google Pay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay? We shall find out in due time. Until then, any further leaks or official statement make its way to us, we will definitely update this post.
