Samsung’s current in-house Android distribution is called One UI, which is an upgrade over Oreo based Samsung Experience. The latest version is 1.5 which is preinstalled in the Galaxy Note 10 lineup. The OEM tries to keep the whole platform in sync by backporting different modules.
While features like Call and Message Continuity or revamped DeX support are exclusive to top end phones, Samsung integrated the camera night mode and QR code scanner from Galaxy S series to mid-range phones such as Galaxy A70.
On the other hand, a recent software update introduced USB port moisture detection enhancement to some regional variants of Galaxy A50. Matter of fact, this particular feature used to be reserved for flagships.
These A series phones from Samsung are direct competitors to the mid-rangers from Xiaomi, Realme and alike. The Exynos 9610 powered Galaxy A50 was launched in February of this year, which packs a triple (25+8+5 MP) rear camera arrangement with a very attractive price tag.
Talking about Galaxy A70, you can find a highly capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC inside the phone. Samsung opted for 32 MP sensor for both primary rear and selfie cameras in this phone. Cherry on top, these phone finally ditched the dated microUSB port in favor of USB Type-C connector.
We talked about the September patch for Galaxy A70 a few days ago, but that was intended for the SM-A705FN variant. Looks like the Indian edition, aka SM-A705GM, is now getting the same security patch (build number ASI2), albeit the changelog is completely different.
As you can see, Indian Galaxy A70 owners can now use Type-C headsets with their phones. The gigantic (~650 MB) OTA also improves the camera picture quality and performance of the fingerprint scanner, but bundles two extra bloatware – namely Booking and Snapchat.
Pretty long bump from the July update (ASG6), isn’t it? Well, Galaxy A50 too gets a small incremental update that is related to call quality enhancements. I guess our readers should find the changelog familiar, as global Exynos powered Galaxy Note 10 also received a similar hotfix.
Most likely they just upgraded the modem (ASI3 from ASH2), as the primary version identifier remains unchanged (ASH3). There is no change in the security patch level as well.
