Realme 5 Pro camera clarity, ghost touch, & other bugs fixed via the latest update in China

It’s nothing unusual for smartphone OEMs to release new phones in their home countries first before moving on to the global market. Many Chinese vendors are known to do this and Oppo-owned Realme is no exception.

The device maker has followed in the footsteps of its parent company and a host of others in first releasing some of its newest phones in China before sending them to India and other markets. The most recent example is the Realme X2.

Besides releasing new phones in China ahead of other markets, Realme has also taken after the likes of Xiaomi and Huawei in releasing phones with different names in China and the global market.

The device you know as the Realme 3 Pro, for instance, goes by the name Realme X Lite in China while the Realme 5 Pro is known as Realme Q. Since these devices have little to set them apart other than the names, they usually receive just about the same software updates but at different intervals.

A recent case is where the Realme X Lite received the September security update in China about two weeks ahead of its Indian counterpart, but the underlying changes weren’t entirely identical.

A similar but slightly twisted incident is also happening as I write this. Owners of the Chinese variant of the Realme 5 Pro are now receiving a new software update that seems to be late to the party, but it also has some goodies of its own that haven’t arrived on the Indian variant.

So, what’s late about the incoming Realme Q update? Well, it has the August 2019 security patch yet the Indian Realme 5 Pro received an update with the latest September security patch last week.

However, the update, which is arriving as version RMX1971_11_A.07, has some other stuff that didn’t make it to the Realme 5 Pro. High on the list are fixes to issues related to yellowish or overall camera clarity, AI scene detection, and ghost touch when playing games with wet or sweaty fingers.

The new update also tags along some other optimizations related to the Realme Q display screen’s brightness when set to its lowest, power consumption, and so on.

The changelog has been translated from Chinese hence the strange wording. Nonetheless, we expect that at some point these bug fixes and optimizations will be made available for the global Realme 5 Pro in a future update.
