Samsung Galaxy S8 September security update rolling out

Samsung doesn’t need an introduction among gadget freaks. The company set themselves on the top through their flagship devices. Before this year, the story of their mid-range phones were so terrible that they couldn’t find a spot in the priority list of potential buyers.

The ‘M’ series has changed the destiny of mid-range Samsung devices. Each handset under the lineup offers decent performance for the price. That’s why the company is upgrading those handsets (take M10s for example) to equip with contemporary technologies.

A gadget enthusiast can easily figure out whether or not a Samsung phone is a flagship by its name. The OEM releases their top-of-the-line offerings under two lineups- S and Note. The latter has got a niche audience due to the bigger form factor.

Smartphone users expect their manufacturer to untie timely OTAs. The anticipation is at its peak for the flagship customers. It is true that the companies deliver firmware updates to phones often when they are fresh. If and when new ones come out, the frequency of overhauls will dampen.

In order to keep their customers happy and stay out of safety threats, brands will rollout security patches to their older models (may not be time-bound, though). Speaking of older models, do you remember Galaxy S8? Released in 2017, the phone packs in Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 (depending on the region).

As for the optics, a single sensor on the rear measures 12 MP in resolution and the selfie shooter measures 8 MP. The 5000 mAh battery has support for 15W Quick Charge 2.0. How is Samsung treating their two-year old flagship right now?

Taking the arrival of September update, we should say, pretty well. The OTA has started rolling out on 23 September. Apart from bumping up the security patch, it doesn’t do anything else. For the same reason, the size of the package should be relatively smaller.

It seems like in the Middle East, September update didn’t make its entry. What they are getting instead is the August patch. We spotted a user with the screenshot on Twitter. Akin to the latest overhaul, this one also brings nothing new with it.

Don’t be disappointed for not receiving the update. You know how they get rolled out, don’t you? The batch-wise delivery may take some time to reach your device. Be patient!
