Samsung has shown some great improvements in pushing out the latest update since the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S-series and the Note series. Moreover, with the launch of the Android 10, all OEMs including Samsung, is gearing up for rolling out the Android 10 operating system for its smartphones.
In the past also, the company is trying to cover its bases and has been rolling out the updates for many of its smartphones, even the older models as well. Taking a look at the Android security update cycle of Samsung shows us the path that the company has decided for all its smartphones.
Being one of the busiest years for the company, Samsung introduced their two flagships, the Galaxy S-series, and the Note 10 series smartphones. In between, the M-series and the revamped Galaxy A-series was also launched that kept the customers and the company busy.
Continuing with these efforts, Samsung was placed in the 2nd spot under the Android version share for top 10 manufacturers for Q3 2018-Q2 2019 category by Counterpoint Research. This is something which is surprising as the company has faced a lot of flak in the past for updates.
Moreover, according to research by IDC (International Data Corporation), Samsung saw good growth in terms of mobile shipments for Q2 of 2019 as compared to Q2 of 2018. Almost 89% of the devices in Samsung’s portfolio sold after Q3 2018, are now running the Android 9 Pie update.
Now keeping up with this positivity, in a recent development, Samsung has rolled out the latest September 2019 security update for the Galaxy A6 (SM-A600GN). Interestingly, the Galaxy A6 was previously running on the June security patch but, this update bumps the security level to September 2019.
However, the update has been rolled out for the Latin American Model Galaxy A6 (SM-A600GN) and also, when we checked the official tracker has not been updated yet.
But, according to sources, the update is available for download and can be sideloaded if you have not received the update in the specific region. You can check out our post on how you can avoid the waiting time to manually download the Samsung updates using Frija software.
This new update has been reportedly rolled out in Latin America but we expect it to roll out to other regions as well. Another interesting point that grabs our attention is that the Indian variant of the Galaxy A6 (SM-A600G) is still stuck on the April 2019 security patch.
You can always check for it manually by heading to Settings>> Software Update>> Download update manually. If there is no notification for a new update then you need to have patience and let the update arrive in your region.
Happy Installing!
