Android 10 is here and it has been almost three weeks since its launch. Most of the OEMs have geared up for rolling out the latest update for its compatible devices. For example, OnePlus has rolled out the Android 10 update for the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro.
But, Samsung seems to be lacking the pace that other OEMs are running on as it is yet to roll out any beta or stable update of the Android 10 for its devices. However, if we go by sources, the Android 10 update will hit the Samsung Galaxy devices (probably S10 and Note series) across U.S. and Europe, starting this October.
Moreover, recently, a leaked list of Android 10 compatible Samsung devices surfaced the internet. You can check the list below:
However, being from an unofficial source, we cannot confirm that this list is legit or not. But, if the list turns out to be true then, major smartphones like the Galaxy S8/S8+ and Note 8 is missing from the list. We will have to wait and let some concrete information roll-in with this regards.
It is high time that Samsung pulls up its sleeves and start covering its bases before the Android 10 rollout. And, what seems to be the step towards it, Samsung has rolled out the September 2019 security patch for the Canadian Galaxy A8 (SM-A530W) and North American Galaxy A20 (SM-A205U). Note that the update is region-specific and has been rolled out in Canada and the U.S. respectively.
Talking about the update received on the Canadian Samsung Galaxy A8 (SM-A530W), it carries the build number A530WVLS7CSI2 which is based on the Android 9 Pie.
Below are the screenshot and the official changelog for the update:
Changelog:
- The security of your device has been improved.
Apart from the latest September 2019 security patch, the update does not seem to bring anything more. What’s more important the Galaxy A8 smartphone is under the Monthly Security Updates plan of Samsung, which makes it eligible for more security-based updates in the future.
This update is available for the Canada based models of the Samsung Galaxy A8. But, we can expect the updates to roll out for other markets as well.
Another smartphone of Samsung received the update i.e. the Galaxy A20 (SM-A205U: US). The update brings the latest security patch of September 2019 and nothing more. The updates carries the build number A205USQU2ASI1 which is based on the Android 9 Pie. One thing to mention is that with this update the bootloader has been updated from v1 to v2. What this means is that the users will now, not be able to downgrade anymore.

Changelog
- The security of your device has been improved.
This update is region-specific and is now rolling out in the U.S. However, we can expect this update to roll out to other regions as well. Note that this update has been rolled out in batches via OTA.
But, you can always check for it manually by heading to Settings>> Software Update>> Download update manually. If there is no notification for a new update then you need to have patience and let the update arrive in your region.
Happy Installing!
