Samsung, the Korean smartphone giant is one of those manufacturers that always tries to keep up with the latest trends in the smartphone world. Be it bringing in the punch-hole display with the S10 series or the innovative design of the Note 10 devices, Samsung always tries to woo its customer in one or the other way.
According to a survey from CMR MICI, Samsung was placed second when it comes to having a lower return rate. In layman terms, lowest return rates are measured by the customer’s first visit to a service center within the first 6 months of purchase, for both online and offline buyers.
Also, when it comes to pushing out security or firmware updates, the company has made a massive improvement as compared to the past. It was placed in the 2nd spot in the Android version share for top 10 manufacturers for Q3 2018-Q2 2019, according to Counterpoint Research.
Around 89% of Samsung devices sold after Q3 2018 are already running on the Android 9 Pie OS.
Now, keeping up with this surprising improvement, the company is trying hard to upgrade all its older devices. Samsung has recently rolled out the August 2019 security patch for the Galaxy J2 (2018) model, albeit the underlying OS (Nougat) remains unchanged.
The phone (also sold as Galaxy J2 Pro) was announced in January 2018 and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The device sports an 8MP camera at the rear and a 5MP selfie camera in the front.
The device runs on Android 7.1 out-of-the-box. In the display department, the device has a 5-inch display and under the hood, the device packs a 2600 mAh battery.
Talking about the latest update received on the device, it carries the version number J250FXWS2ASI3/J250FODD2ASB2/J250FXWU2ASH1 and weighs around 112.12MB in size.
The update can be downloaded on a mobile data connection as it is not of bigger size but, we recommend having a stable internet connection to download this update. Below are the official changelog and the screenshot shared by one of the users of the Galaxy J2 (2018):
What’s new:
- The security of your device has been improved.
Apart from the August 2019 security patch, the update does not seem to bring anything new to the device. However, like always, there will be some bug fixes and improvements as well. Note that the update will be rolled out in batches via OTA and will take some time in hitting all the devices.
But, you can always go ahead and manually check for the update on your device by going to Settings>>About Phone>>Software Update>>Check for updates. If the update is available in your region, you will get a notification and you can download the update by tapping on it.
Happy Installing!
