If you analyse the smartphone market, you can perceive that the budget segment is more competitive than the flagship division. The companies are competing neck-to-neck with their own models (take Realme for example).
Motorola used to be one of the first choices of a budget smartphone buyer years back. Fast forward to today, they are trying hard to survive in the market. Their reluctance to maximise the specs to price ratio compels users to stumble upon other Chinese manufacturers like Redmi and Realme.
A few days ago, the OEM has launched a new entry-level smartphone named Moto E6s. For the price, it does offer decent features. Given the company is late to the party, we are yet to know whether or not it has any impact in the market.
So yeah, Motorola is launching new devices, and even smart TVs. What about the ones they already brought to existence? Are those receiving timely updates? A couple of days before, they released August patch to Moto G7 (a bit late, but they did). On the previous day, Moto X4 September security update was announced.
The wheel has now been spun in the favour of Motorola One (also called Moto One). In China, the device goes by the name P30 Play. The brand announced it a year before in August with Android 8.1 (Oreo). The global version runs on Android One (ZUI in China).
It goes without saying that Motorola One already received Android Pie. Underneath, the phone packs in Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset coupled with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB onboard storage.
Cut to the update, we came to know about it from a post on XDA forum. We could also spot a related entry on Reddit as well. You can see the screenshot, taken from that thread below.
It seems like the update is rolling out in India and UK. Nonetheless, even people residing in these countries may have to wait for a few days before the wide release happens. No one reported to have received a feature-rich OTA. Meaning, it may simply bump up the security patch to September. Nothing else!
