New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on September 17, 2019) follows:
OnePlus is giving a tough competition to Google with the OnePlus 7 series, especially the OnePlus 7 Pro. Rolling out the August security patch before everyone was the starting, and the actual show took place when the company announced Android 10 update (Open Beta) simultaneously with Google Pixel series.
Well well well, all these excitements are reserved for the unlocked variants (European, Indian and global units). The T-Mobile branded OnePlus 7 Pro (with their artificial limitations) can not take part in any of these ventures.
The US wireless carrier did push a massive software update for the phone during late-August, which included a number of camera, connectivity and battery related improvements. Nonetheless, the security patch level was not changed (still July).
T-Mobile and OnePlus jointly started something called Friendly User Testing (FUT) program which was intended for end users to try out new software updates before wider rollout. Matter of fact, they hinted about publishing Android Q (10) based builds back in August.
While it is technically possible to convert your T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro to a global unlocked model and sideload the Android 10 based Open Beta update, the process requires some technical skills. As a result, users are hoping for getting a beta build without going through all those shenanigans.
And now this is really happening! OnePlus is pushing ‘test’ version of Android 10 update for the T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro, which comes as a huge (~2 GB) OTA package. Of course you need to be enrolled in the aforementioned FUT initiative to get the update.
Preliminary feedback is mostly positive, although everyone is talking about unexpected lags while playing with this update.
I got the email and updated and everything is going well except lag happening some times and this build is so much faster and snapper

every so often scrolling from the left to your Google notifications and back to your home screen it lags and what are the thing I noticed is scrolling through your app drawer lags as well. this is well known issue in the open beta as well. it should be addressed soon hopefully. I’m going to test my speaker phone to see if it works before when I was on open beta one it did not work people could not hear me.

There is no sign of the Android 10 update for the carrier branded OnePlus 6T yet, but we hope the legacy flagship will soon receive the same goodness from T-Mobile and OnePlus.
Update (December 28)
T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro has finally grabbed the stable Android 10 OTA with November patch. The carrier variant of OnePlus 6T is still stuck with Pie. Details here.
