Samsung adorns pole position in the smartphone business. No brand could challenge their monopoly that the company has been residing there for quite long. Does that mean all Samsung devices are being sold like hotcakes?
Not really! When you look at the budget and mid-range segments, you will know the South Korean OEM doesn’t actually have a say in either of them. The value for money Chinese companies took over the throne by offering maximum specs to price ratio.
Until the end of last year, Samsung budget devices were so terrible that the customers didn’t bat their eyes on. Nonetheless, they began this year by introducing ‘M’ series for budget restricted users. And, it has improved the market condition a bit.
When it comes to flagships, the manufacturer is influencing the buyers to a great extent. In fact, their high-end devices (that come under S and Note) help Samsung keep their top position in smartphone shipments. The latest to come out of all is Galaxy Note 10.
In order to please the users and stay on top of their shopping choices in the future, a brand must untie timely software updates, not just to their new models, but to the old ones as well. Narrowing down to the Note series, yeah, Samsung is doing it.
The company rolled out August security patch to Note 9 (took two weeks more to bring the same to unlocked units). Apart from the incremental stability enhancements, the changelog didn’t contain anything new.
However, incoming is the concerns from the users who have messed up their battery backup after the update. Post the installation, they say, the battery backup went horrible that it lasts half of what it did after the July update.
FYI, it is not the first time a Samsung flagship goes horrible after August patch. Galaxy S8 and S8+ shared the same destiny. Nevertheless, the brand aired the fixes through an OTA within 10 days.
You know there are two variants of Samsung flagships in terms of chipset- Snapdragon and Exynos. In case you think only one of them is having problems, well, you are wrong! We could spot both version users taking their complaints onto Reddit about the depleted battery life.
While quick battery draining is what most Note 9 users relate to, it isn’t the only issue. A number of people are suffering from Wi-Fi problems too. Owing to the bad network reception, people are unable to connect to wireless networks in the areas they used to do it prior the update.
No, factory resetting or wiping the cache partition doesn’t seem to have solved the issue. Then, what can you possibly do? Wait for Samsung to fix it via an OTA overhaul. We will update this story when it happens.
