Samsung Galaxy A30s August patch rolls out in some regions with camera improvements

You know who leads in the global smartphone market share. Of course, it’s Samsung! When it comes to budget segment, it’s a different story altogether. The South Korean titan lags behind Chinese brands that offer maximum specs to price ratio.

In the beginning of this year, the company updated their budget device portfolio with ‘M’ series. And, we can say it improved their reputation quite a bit in the segment. While they top in the flagship division, budget and mid-range sections are way out of their league.

Let us keep ‘M, Note, and S’ aside for the time being! What else is there? You are right. They have a handful of offerings under ‘A’ series. In a market where OnePlus and Redmi’s K lineup disport, Samsung couldn’t do anything significant.

Taking the OEM’s track record into consideration, we can see the A series functions as a bridge between their budget devices and flagships. Almost all innovative features found their ways to ‘A’ smartphones before they were embedded onto ‘S’ or ‘Note’ (Take in-display fingerprint scanner for example).

The brand upgraded A30 and A50 recently with A30s and A50s. As you can guess by the name, the former packs in low-end specifications as compared to the latter. Underneath the hood, the same old Exynos 7904 SoC lends the processing power to A30s.

While the display size remains the same as that of its predecessor, astonishing is the fact that they downgraded the resolution to 720x 1560 pixels. Evidently so, the pixel density takes a steep downward turn (only 268 ppi now as opposed to 403 ppi on A30).

Just after the device had gone official, Samsung released August update with the build number A307FNXXU1ASI1 to it. Not only does it bump up the security patch to August, but improves stability of the camera as well. Given we are already into September, another OTA should hit A30s this month.

What if you got your hands on the device, but not on the update? Let us clear the air by saying that’s how OTAs go public. Brands deliver them in batches. So, you will have to wait for your turn. In the mean time, check for updates at Settings>> System>> System updates.
