Samsung couldn’t keep up with the competition from Chinese manufacturers in the budget segment. For the same reason, many of their models flunked. That’s how the OEM decided to come up with ‘M’ series and managed to cleanse the track record among budget-sensitive users to a great extent.
Samsung brought four smartphones under the ‘M’ lineup – M10, M20, M30, and M40. Among them, as you can guess, M10 is the low-end model with the minimum price tag. After launching these devices, the brand has been following up with timely security patches.
After all gadget arena is time sensitive. Devices go outdated pretty soon as new chipsets and technologies emerge. So, manufacturers release smartphones within the gaps of a few months (Realme took it to another level with multiple devices within the shortest timespan).
And now it looks like Samsung is all set to update their ‘M’ series lineup. In case you follow tech news, you might know Galaxy M10s user manual appeared on Samsung India website. Yeah, the phone hasn’t gone official yet. But, it already surfaced on GeekBench.
Bringing the bits and pieces about the phone together, we could glimpse at many of its specifications. Yeah, you are right. It is an incremental upgrade to M10 as the name suggests. Akin to any such upgrade, they have made some improvements.
Galaxy M10s borrows the processing power from Exynos 7904 chipset. Accompanying the SoC is 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB onboard storage. We expect the device to hit the market with Android 9 out of the box. Android 10?? Well, it should be delivered.
Another area the new generation is going to defy the old one is the charging port. M10s will flaunt a USB Type-C port whereas M10 only has microUSB. The design looks exactly the same with a water-drop notch on top of the display. We recommend taking these with a pinch of salt because Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything.
While we have come to know more than half of the specifications, incoming is its Google certification. OEMs have to certify their devices with Google to ensure the flawless functioning of their services. For example, Play Store works only on certified handsets.
The Mountain View tech titan keeps a list of Google Play supported devices. As you see in the image given below, we could spot Samsung Galaxy M10s there with the model number SM-M107F (provided is the screenshot of a PDF file).
What does it tell you? You are about to witness the launch pretty soon. Owing to the tight competition in the segment, the company can’t afford to delay it anymore. Not to mention, other models will also get upgraded (M20s and M30s are already in the pipeline).
