[BREAKING] Redmi Note 8 India launch gets closer; Redmi 8, 8A bag certification from NBTC

Since last year, Xiaomi (or should I say Redmi?) has gradually established a pattern of releasing half-yearly refresh of their Redmi Note lineup. OnePlus kickstarted the concept of rapid release with the release of OnePlus 3T back in 2016, and looks like the former is very much inspired by the stance.

Although Redmi Note 7 Pro was first unveiled in India, Note 8 Pro got an anticipated release ceremony in China. According to Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain, they may require as much as two more months to bring the phone (plus the regular Note 8) in India due to certification and testing procedures.

The base version of Redmi Note 8 (based on 11 nm Snapdragon 665) is indeed an update from the Redmi Note 7/7S (based on 14 nm Snapdragon 660). Moreover, the triple camera setup is now accesbible in the budget segment as well.

Matter of fact, we speculated the arrival of Mi A3 in India by locating the corresponding entry inside RF Exposure certification list of Xiaomi India website – almost a month before the actual release. Following the same trend, now it looks like Xiaomi will probably bring the Redmi Note 8 much faster.

The internal modem number is listed as M1908C3JI, which is following the same pattern as other regional variants. Will Xiaomi intentionally delay the release of Redmi Note 8 Pro in India to boost the sale of regular Redmi Note 8 by releasing it a little bit early? Sounds like a good conspiracy theory. ?

On the other hand, we are now certain about the half-yearly refresh of other Redmi phones too. Both Redmi 8A and Redmi 8 are now certified by the Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), Thailand.

We have seen some alleged hands on pictures, as well as EEC certifications of phones with the model number M1908C3KG and M1908C3IG. Now we are pretty much confirmed about the existence of Redmi 8A and 8 as those codenames do belong to them .

Folks, cross your fingers! Hope these little two goodies will soon land on Indian markets as well.
