Did you know Xiaomi used under-display fingerprint scanner back in 2016 with Mi 5s? Of course the performance of those first gen ultrasonic sensor was horrible. Due to the high failure rates, the Chinese OEM postponed the plan and went back to capacitive module with Mi 6.
Shift to 2019, and you can find plenty of Xiaomi and Redmi devices with frontal fingerprint reader hidden beneath the screen. Be it Mi 9 or Redmi K20 Pro, the company now actively promotes the technology, although they are optical instead of ultrasonic.
Talking about Mi 6, the phone had a patchy history in terms of software updates. It was launched with MIUI 8 based on Android 7.1 Nougat, and eventually upgraded to Oreo (8.0) with new iterations of MIUI. But then there was a long gap and rumors about possible abandonment.
Nevertheless, Xiaomi delivered stable Android Pie in the form of MIUI 10.4 update for Mi 6 after a series of closed and public beta builds. Interestingly they did not list it on their official download page till date. Apart from a few users, the OTA was also not available widely.
Did Xiami pull back the initial update, like they did with Mi MIX 2? Apparently yes, as Mi 6 units across the world are getting a new update with July security patches. The internal changelog does mention this build as ‘stable’ Android Pie update.

On the other hand, Indian Redmi K20 Pro is also receiving a new incremental update that brings plenty of new features and fixes. However, the security patch level does not change a bit which means Indian users are still stuck with June patch.
