This story is being continuously updated….new updates are being added at the bottom…..
The Razer Phone was announced in November 2017 as the first from the company to focus on mobile gaming. One of the major selling points was the 120Hz display refresh rate and looking at the competition, the Razer Phone 1 is still the best in this aspect alongside the Razer Phone 2.
The Razer Phone 2 came out late last year running Android Oreo out of the box. At the time, the stable version of Android Pie was already available, but for some reason, the company didn’t pick the newer OS to run the show on its updated gaming phone.
Instead, an update to Android Pie was pushed to the device in February 2019, but only for the unlocked models. It was until somewhere in late July that carrier models, AT&T to be specific, started receiving the OTA update to Pie.
Even before the Razer Phone 2 Pie update arrived, questions about Razer Phone Android Pie update had started mounting through various platforms. This was understandable for a device that cost hundreds of dollars at launch and considered as a flagship gaming smartphone at the time.
In mid-July 2019, Razer was compelled to confirm that Android 9 Pie would be pushed to the original Razer Phone “in the coming weeks.” At the time, there was no mention of any specific dates, something that got some worried considering the company is quite new with smartphone updates.
We will release an Android Pie upgrade – which includes Android security updates – for the original Razer Phone in coming weeks. We thank all our fans for their support and patience.

After the Razer Phone 2, the time to upgrade the Razer 1 to yet another newer OS has finally come. Multiple users of the phone are now reporting that Android Pie is available for the handset as an OTA update. And yes, it adds support for Digital WellBeing, Gesture Navigation and other features.
This becomes the second major Android OS for the Razer Phone 1, which made its debut preinstalled with Android Nougat back in late 2017 and got updated to Android Oreo in 2018.
On top of installing Android Pie, the new firmware that weighs in at 1047.6MB also tags along a number of new features and improvements that include the famous adaptive battery that should drastically improve the battery life of the aging handset and navigation gestures.
The OTA also brings improved notification management, and the usual bug fixes and performance improvements that accompany any software update. Also, the security patch level of the Razer 1 has been upgraded to July 2019.
Unlike the update that went out to the second-generation Razer Phone, the Pie update for the Razer 1 doesn’t include support for 720p/1080p/4K video recording at 60fps. At this point, we don’t know if and when this feature will make its way to the OG Razer Phone.
So far, the reports coming in about Razer Phone Android Pie updates are originating from the UK, but we want to believe the wider rollout of the OS is ongoing, so keep checking your phone for the download notification.
