Xiaomi is treating the Mi MIX series as a playground for showing off both technological and design breakthroughs. As for example, they successfully modified 2018’s Mi MIX 3 and incorporated Snapdragon X50 5G modem without compromising the mesmerizing physical appearance of the phone.
Although the MIX lineup is widely available in China as well as multiple European countries, Xiaomi decided to skip their second largest market – India – for these phones due to some unknown reasons. Mi MIX 2 from 2017 was the only phone in MIX series that was released in India.
Xiaomi rolled out Android Pie update for Mi MIX 2 in beta form during May. After a brief amount of closed and subsequent public beta testing, the stable version started to appear on Mi MIX 2 units across the globe at the end of last month (July).
Now there is a catch! Majority of Chinese and global users were unable to complete the installation, as the update prompt allegedly vanished after retrying. The notification acted like a ghost, as MIX 2 owners failed to locate it after the disappearance.
I got a notification but now it’s not available on my device. There is no such announcement on micommunity either.

Although we captured the full update package at that time, people were reportedly facing a error similar to the screenshot below while trying to flash it. These incidents clearly indicate that Xiaomi pulled back that particular build from stable channel for undisclosed reasons.
Well, a new MIUI version (10.4.2.0) is now available on some Mi MIX 2 units, which is nothing but the re-released Pie update for the phone. This time, Xiaomi engineers bundled July security patch (previous one came with June). Remaining portion of the changelogs are identical.
Attention
– Stable MIUI based on Android Pie
System
– Optimization: Updated Android Security Patch to July 2019. Increased system security.
App lock
– New: Locking Google contacts is available now
We still don’t know the reason to cancel out the previous 10.4.1.0 build, but it’s good to see that the company has promptly fixed the issue(s) internally and brought fresh new Pie for Mi MIX 2 owners.
