Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 is expected at some point before the end of this year, but the release date isn’t official yet. This has opened doors for speculations, leaks, and rumors about the potential arrival of the device and apparently, we may have a date.

The first Mi MIX was unveiled in October 2016 and went on sale the following month. The Mi MIX 2 launched in September the following year and started selling the same month, at least in the home country of China.

The Mi MIX 3 came out in October 2018 and started selling in November, much like the original Mi MIX. Ignoring the Mi MIX 2S that came out in March 2018 as a small upgrade over the Mi MIX 2, the Mi MIX 4 should be unveiled in September 2019 and probably start selling the same month.

If you missed the permutations, well, follow keenly. The unveiling of devices in the Mi MIX series has been alternating between September and October. First was in October and then September for the Mi MIX 2 and the third came in October. Granted, the fourth should arrive in September. Get it?

Now, enough with the permutations and onto what we have at hand. Apparently, there’s talk that Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 could be unveiled this coming month of September. While this is well in order, the info isn’t coming directly from Xiaomi, but from the sometimes unreliable Weibo.

It’s worth noting that Xiaomi is also working on the release of a second 5G smartphone. It was thought the Mi MIX 4 is the device in question, but it’s now emerging that the Mi 9S 5G will be Xiaomi’s second 5G phone after the Mi MIX 3 5G. We also expect the Mi MIX 4 to support 5G.

Even more interesting is that the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 will reportedly be unveiled after the said Mi 9 5G goes official. Previous reports have suggested that the Xiaomi 5G smartphone will begin selling in China in September, which makes the whole thing even more confusing.

At this point in time, it’s hard to tell which of the two rumored Xiaomi phones will be unveiled in September 2019. But we won’t be surprised if Xiaomi goes ahead and announces both devices in the same event but with different availability timelines.

Availability aside, it has been claimed Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 will ship with the souped-up Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset mated with up to 12GB of RAM. It’s also rumored to support an in-screen selfie camera and fingerprint scanner as well as 100W fast battery charging technology.

We had previously captured the report on the Mi MIX 4 coming with a massive 108MP camera lens on the back, the first of its kind. Apparently, this is seemingly becoming more likely as we draw closer to the launch of the device.

Other rumored specs include a 2K AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a 4500mAh battery unit, IP68 dust, and water resistance, and UFS 3.1 storage, among others. But of course, none of these has been confirmed officially.

We will be keeping more tabs on the developments around Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 and bring you up to speed, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, check out more Xiaomi-related stuff here.
