Speeding up the Android 9.0 Pie circulation process, South Korean phone manufacturer LG has now pushed the long-awaited update to LG V40 ThinQ units in the Indian region. FYI, Pie has been live for V40 devices in other regions for over a couple of month now, but was pending for the units in India.

Starting with the US carrier Verizon, followed by AT&T, US Cellular, the unlocked US variants and the European region models, most of the V40 ThinQ units were upgraded to Pie back in June. Couple of weeks back, it was rolled out for LG V40 units in the Asian regions like Singapore & Hong Kong.

The update on the Asian region units weighed about 1.5GB and carried build version number V20b/V20a (depending on the region). And it brought brings along the June security patch, as we highlighted in our coverage on the matter.

Cut to now. The wait is over for LG V40 ThinQ device holders in India, for Pie has finally started hitting the units in the region. For a quick refresher, LG V40 ThinQ is a 2018 high-end device powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC, that comes with Android 8.1 (Oreo) out of the box.

The phone was targeted to be upgraded by Q2 2019, which as already mentioned above did happen.

But V40 units in countries like India were waiting until now. But that changes as of today. Going by the information shared by a Twitter user (@kamal60293931) Pie update in now live.

Sized ~1.5GB, the update bears build number V20a and brings along the July security patch. Here’s a user shared image of the update notification screen on their LG V40 unit:

Happy news, right? Well the update is out, but as is usually the case with firmware updates, they are rolled out in batches, so Pie may also take time to hit all units in the region. Hang in tight, as you may get to see the update notification anytime now.
