NOTICE: We’ve created an archive of all major developments related to the Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup. We are continuously updating that page with latest S10e/S10/S10+ news so that you don’t need to search for information related to the device on a daily basis. Head here to access that page.

When it comes to updates, Sprint is undoubtedly going through a rough patch in this year. Remember that they had to pull back the Pie update for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 due to a number of issues? Or the cancellation of Motorola Moto Z2 Force Pie update for no good reason?

As a matter of fact, the software update scenario for Sprint branded Galaxy S10 is no less than a disaster. The cellular data/LTE connection glitches plagued the units of early adopters, and the wireless carrier was forced to announce a countrywide RMA call.

Moreover, the particular variant got any kind of monthly security patch back in May for the last time. The build number was ASDA, slightly different from the other carrier specific OTA (ASD9).

While T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon users subsequently got the June security patch at the beginning of this month (July), the long-anticipated night mode feature in stock camera also appeared on the last two variants. Unfortunately there was nothing on Sprint at that time.

Worry not, as the June update is finally rolling out to Sprint Galaxy S10e/S10/S10+ units – almost when the month of July is ending. The size of the incremental OTA is pretty large though, nearly 510 MB.

Unlike other US carrier models (ASF6/ASF7), the build number of this new update is ASG8. The ‘G’ character implies that the build was compiled in July. The bootloader version is also upgraded from v1 to v2, thus downgrading to older build is not possible.

Now here is a fascinating thing: the Exynos powered global variant of Galaxy S10 lineup got the July security update some days ago. The OTA carries the same ASG8 build tag, but the bootloader version is v3 instead of v2.

Sprint users can finally use the night mode as well as QR code scanning via the built-in camera app. We don’t know anything about the July update though, but guess they won’t need another month to roll it out.

On the other hand, the global 5G variant of Galaxy S10 started to get small bugfix updates. The South Korean model (SM-G977N) got ASF3 build with 5G modem related fixes, while the European model (SM-G977B) received ASF5 OTA that brought camera improvements.
