Several Android OEMs have a ‘Note’ lineup, which is often used to denote larger phones with an optional stylus. As a matter of fact, Samsung popularized the naming scheme when they launched the original Galaxy Note back in 2011.
Besides Samsung, Xiaomi is another OEM having a hugely popular Note series under their Redmi sub-brand (an independent company now). Being one of the largest Android smartphone manufacturers in the world, Huawei stepped into the game as well.
However, they opted to released the Note lineup under the Honor brand name. Honor Note 10 is the latest phone in this category, sporting a humongous 5,000 mAh battery paired with a 6.95 inches AMOLED display.
Huawei used their in-house HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC inside the Note 10, and the phone was launched with Android Oreo based EMUI 8.2.
PiunikaWeb readers should remember that the Chinese OEM recently rolled out stable EMUI 9.1 update for a bunch of Kirin 970 devices, including Mate 10 and P20 family of phones. Now the same update is available as beta form for Honor Note 10 (codename: RVL).
After days of internal testing (as mentioned in this article), Honor Note 10 owners finally have the chance to take part in the public beta initiative. They need to submit the serial number of their phones for participation.
According to Huawei, Only RVL-AL09 variant of Note 10 is eligible for the beta testing. Minimum 6 GB free space is necessary for downloading and installing the EMUI beta. Third party apps and root can cause incompatibilities in the process, so revert back to the untouched state if possible.
The internal version number of the public beta is 9.1.0.39, and it brings features like July security patches, EROFS, GPU Turbo 3.0 and NFC improvements. There is no ETA of the stable update rollout, but Huawei engineers are working hard to deliver it ASAP.
